World darts star Paul Nicholson, took time out from his quest for glory at the Grand Slam of Darts as the buzz of the PDC was recreated at The Money Shop’s Darlington Street store in Wolverhampton.
Paul, known as ‘The Asset’ took time out from his quest for glory at the Grand Slam of Darts to step up to the oche as The Money Shop welcomed the world number nine to make a special appearance.
Under the watchful eye of household PDC MC George Noble who was on hand to keep score, the PDC household name went head to head with local darts fans who queued for the opportunity to pit their wits against Paul in a six versus nine darts contest.
Wolverhampton’s top challengers on the day included novice Sangeeta Kohli and Mark Curley who both defeated Paul with scores of 216 and 248 respectively with each of their nine darts.
Both challengers walked away with a darts board specially commissioned by The Money Shop which was signed by the PDC star while each customer who took part walked away with a set of darts and signed photograph of Paul.
Russell Willington, Darlington Street Store Manager, said: “Paul went down a storm with our customers by making a personal appearance at our store. We unearthed some local darts talent and Paul also managed to get in some match practice as he looks to continue his fine form in the Grand Slam of Darts this week.”
The Money Shop sponsors Paul Nicholson, Simon Whitlock as well as five-time World Champion Raymond van Barneveld.
